Pretty In Pink Lace

I love a good peplum top. I think they are so flattering in the mid section and I love the feminine touch of the peplum ruffles. This lace peplum top from Halogen takes the femininity to the next level. I love everything about this top from the color to the feminine detailing.

When I was styling this in my head, I thought I would pair it with brown or nude shoes and a brown bag, but after trying it on with black accessories, I loved the contrast and touch of edge it adds to the look.

Many of you have probably seen these shoes all over (or at least a similar pair). I love that this pair is under $30 at Target and they’ve held up great (I’ve had them over a year now). They are available in several different colors, including taupe, which I love.

This Michael Kors Black IP Lake watch is also a favorite of mine. My husband calls it my faux-Apple watch because the shape is so similar. I really like the square shape and blacked-out look. It can be dressed up or down, depending on the day.

And last but not least is this black clutch from Bp. This bag is only $25, but feels so much more expensive. It’s also the perfect size to carry just the essentials—small wallet, phone, keys, sunglasses and lipstick.

I hope this look helped inspire some of you to pair feminine looks with a bit of edge to balance it out a little.

Shopping Trends On A Budget

I love a good trend. From bell sleeves to off-the-shoulder tops, style trends are such a fun way to update your wardrobe each season. But trends are called so because they don’t last forever. So whenever I am shopping for something that’s considered trendy, like this black peplum top, I try to find budget-friendly options.

When I am looking for new clothes, but am on a budget, I’ve got my go-to stores that I know will have what I need. Nordstrom Rack, LOFT and Zara are a few favorites of mine. The peplum top I’m wearing is from Nordstrom Rack.

While I definitely like to save on trendy items, I will always try to pair my trendier pieces with nicer staples. For example, the Tory Burch sandals and bag I paired with this top balance out the look. (I bought both the sandals and bag used. I’m planning a post soon on how to score great finds second hand.)

If you’ve got your eye on a piece that is just above your budget, wait for it to go on sale. Most stores will offer promo codes and sales regularly, so it’s only a matter of checking back often to see if your item has been marked down.

Believe it or not, I find some of my best deals by Googling descriptors of the item I want. For example, I found these gladiator sandals under $30 by searching for “studded gladiator sandals” (after swooning over the very similar Valentino version for $975). PS I styled these sandals here and here. They get so many compliments every time I wear them!

I hope these tips help y’all the next time you go shopping. Thanks for reading!
